Do Xero recommend using a third-party tool to backup?

Xero’s Services Agreement states: “You must maintain copies of all data inputted into the service. Xero expressly excludes liability for any data loss no matter how caused.”. As Xero doesn't include backup functionality, the only way of backing up Xero is by way of a third-party.

Why do I need Xero backup?

Xero is a fantastic solution for keeping your data safe and available but in some instances you may need to recover data. For example if you suffer a cyber-attack, a disgruntled employee has maliciously deleted data or something as simple as a human error or app integrations causing mayhem.

Xero Backup allows you to restore your most critical data simply in any event.

Where is my data stored?

Your data will be hosted in UK only datacentres which are based in Reading, Slough, Hoddesdon and Gloucester.

Each datacentre has strict access controls, encryption protocols and redundancy built-in.

How do I recover data?

Xero doesn't provide a native restore function so data must be exported from the Control Panel as raw files and imported back into Xero manually. Our team are on hand to support you in the event of a restore.
