A Simple Teams Update That Makes Meetings Way Smoother

If you’ve ever sat through a Microsoft Teams meeting and heard “next slide, please” more times than you can count, you’re not alone.
It’s a common frustration—especially in webinars or meetings with multiple presenters. Those awkward pauses while someone tries to get the slides moving? They break the flow and can make even the most well-planned session feel clunky.
Thankfully, Microsoft is rolling out a smart little update to solve this.
So, what’s changing?
Teams is introducing shared slide control, allowing multiple people to control a presentation during a meeting.
Until now, only one person—the person sharing the PowerPoint—could navigate the slides. Everyone else had to awkwardly request, "Can you go to the next one?" Not exactly a smooth experience.
With the new feature, the meeting host can assign control to co-presenters, letting them seamlessly move through their part of the presentation without delays or interruptions.
Why it matters
It might sound like a small change, but it makes a big difference to how meetings feel. Presenters can take control when it’s their turn, and transitions between speakers feel more natural. Less back-and-forth. Fewer awkward silences. A more professional experience overall.
This update is already rolling out on the Windows desktop version of Teams, and it’s expected to become widely available soon. Most likely, hosts will be able to set co-presenters when scheduling a meeting—keeping setup as simple as possible.
Another smart move from Microsoft
Microsoft has been steadily improving Teams over the past year. From real-time chat during meetings to background noise suppression and tighter integration with other Microsoft 365 tools, these small upgrades all add up to a better user experience.
This latest tweak is another step toward making virtual collaboration as smooth and intuitive as possible.
